How Helios Smokeless Technology Elevates Every Entertainment Experience

Spending time with family and friends around an open flame is one of life’s simple luxuries, yet traditional bonfires often come with an unwelcome tradeoff—shifting smoke, stinging eyes, and clothing that carries the scent of ash long after the evening ends.

At Helios, we have eliminated the inconvenience without sacrificing the magic of a roaring flame. Built with our signature advanced airflow technology, Helios fire pits pull oxygen through bottom vents to feed the primary flame, while superheated air rises through secondary internal chambers. This creates a high-temperature secondary combustion near the top rim, burning off microscopic smoke particles before they ever escape into your air space.

No more shifting chairs and guests or dodging smoke plumes—just clean, warmth designed to keep your guests relaxed and focused on the conversation.

Burning Instructions

Mastering the Clean Burn

To experience the peak performance of your Helios smokeless firepit, the internal air chambers require a brief pre-heating phase.

Prep for success

Pre-Heating Phase

Please allow approximately 10 minutes from ignition for the side air chambers to reach optimal combustion temperatures.

Set Ablaze

Starting the Flame

Begin your fire using a generous amount of dry kindling. Building a strong initial embers bed allows the secondary airflow system to engage swiftly.

Keep the Fire Burning

Adding Fuel

Avoid adding larger logs until the kindling is burning brightly and the internal chamber is pre-heated. Once optimal combustion is achieved, enjoy a continuous, virtually smoke-free flame all night long.

FAQ

Firepit Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, our Apollo and Solis fire pits utilize a signature dual-wall secondary combustion design. Air is pulled through lower vents, heated, and pushed over the top of the flames, igniting wood smoke before it can escape. To achieve a 100% smokeless burn, we recommend using properly seasoned hardwood with a moisture content below 20%.

Kiln-dried or well-seasoned hardwood such as oak, ash, or hickory delivers the cleanest and longest burn. Avoid treated timber, painted wood, and high-resin softwoods, as these produce excess smoke and leave residue inside the combustion chamber.

Allow approximately 10 minutes from ignition for the internal air chambers to reach optimal combustion temperature. A small amount of smoke during this window is completely normal—once secondary combustion engages, the flame settles into a clean, steady burn.

Yes, provided a heat-resistant barrier or an approved Helios deck protector is placed beneath the unit and the clearances listed in your manual are maintained. Never position the firepit directly on untreated timber or beneath low overhanging structures.

They do. The secondary combustion system draws air through the internal chambers rather than relying on ambient airflow, so performance remains consistent in a light breeze. In sustained strong wind, we recommend a sheltered position to keep embers contained.

Very little. Empty the ash pan once the unit has cooled completely, keep the lower intake vents clear of debris, and cover the firepit when it is not in use. The stainless steel will develop a natural patina over time, which does not affect performance.
